Irish Stablemate WIP

Description

So I've had this drafter laying around for a while. I bought a body lot of 17 stablemates last year, hoping to use them as practise dummies and such. I didn't really know what to do with this guy so I threw him in the back of the box. I recently found him again and was like "Wow, he kinda looks like Irish" so I decided that once I got more clay, I'd give him a mane and tail. (well, he had a mane but I dremelled it off a while ago to give me a clear canvas.

I was going for a sort of swishy moving tail. I don't really know what the previous artist was going for, pose-wise. It sort of looks like an Extended Trot, but also a bit like a spanish walk (was my first thought when I saw it) but the head isn't collected enough for either. I like it, though. It makes the model look sassy. Which Irish certainly is xD

After I had the tail sculpted, I thought about stretching that left leg back and making him canter, but Irish also collects naturally to canter, so i decided against it, since I really don't want to resculpt the neck after making such a lovely mane :3

This wasn't a really difficult or time-consuming job. The tail took a few hours, I think (I wasn't keeping track) but it didn't take long.

Oh, and for any of you who don't know what clay to get for customizing models (not just model horses, but anything plastic) or are thinking about switching, I DEFINITELY recommend Ave's Apoxie Sculpt. Mum got mine straight from the factory (I know, because it had "AVES" written ALL OVER THE BOX (it was one of my christmas presents)) It's so easy to work with, and doesn't set as fast as Magic sculpt does. I used to use Magic Sculpt on all of my other customs, and it was just too hard to work with. Apoxie, though, is very soft and smooths so easily. I hardly have to worry about sanding the point where it meets the plastic anymore, because with a little water I can blend it straight to the plastic. (I still sand once it hardens, to make sure I have a smooth finish, but it doesn't take long)

I know I sound like a sales rep but that stuff is amazing xD

Yes. He's standing on a fez. Don't diss the fez. :iconfezplz:
